Charles Muchene

Mr. Charles Kahara Muchene has served as Independent Non-Executive Group Chairman of East African Breweries Limited since February 2012. He also serves on the Boards of CfC Stanbic Holdings Limited and CfC Stanbic Bank Limited, as well as on the Boards of a number of private companies. Previously, he was Non-Executive Director at East African Breweries Ltd from February 17, 2011 to February 2012. Prior to this appointment, he was Country Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Kenya, a position he served for 11 years. He was one of the Founders and Chairman of the East African Business Summit. During his professional career, he was also Member of the Disclosure Standards Committee of the Capital Markets Authority in Kenya. He is also Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, Member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and Member of the Institute of Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi.

Andrew Cowan

Mr. Andrew Cowan has served as Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since July 28, 2016. Mr. Cowan is an established business leader, with a wide range of commercial and strategic management experience spanning over 20 years in the FMCG sector. Prior to this appointment he led Diageo Great Britain (GB). Mr. Cowan’s experience straddles corporate leadership, strategy development, operational management as well as sales and marketing. Andrew joined Diageo in 2008 as Commercial Director for Northern Ireland and was appointed to the role of Commercial Director in the Republic of Ireland a year later. He returned to GB in 2011 and led the Diageo GB business until his appointment to EABL.

Gyorgy Geiszl

Dr. Gyorgy Geiszl has served as Group Finance Director, Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since October 2015. He joined Diageo in 2006 as Finance Director Corporate Region and Diageo Business services Centre (DBSC). He has subsequently held other Senior Management roles in Diageo including Group Chief Accountant and most recently Finance Director for Diageo’s Russia and Eastern Europe markets. Dr. Geiszl is a qualified Chartered Accountant and in addition holds a Doctor of Economics Degree from Janus Pannonius Tudomanyegyetem (University of Janus Pannonius), Hungary.

Jane Karuku

Mrs. Jane W. Karuku serves as Executive Director, Managing Director of Kenya Breweries Limited within East African Breweries Limited. She has served as Director of the Company since September 6, 2013. Previously she held leadership positions at Telekom Kenya and Managing Director at Cadbury East & Central Africa. She holds Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi and MBA in Marketing from the California National University. Mrs. Jane Karuku was most recently the President of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). She has also held a number of senior positions in various companies including Deputy Chief Executive & Secretary General, Telkom Kenya and Managing Director, Cadbury East & Central Africa. She is a Non-Executive Director of the Barclays Bank of Kenya, a Board Member of the Global Sustainability Index and a Trustee of the United States International University, Kenya.

Mark Ongom

Mr. Mark Ocitti Ongom serves as Managing Director of Uganda Breweries Limited within East African Breweries Limited. He joined the Company as Managing Director of East African Breweries International within the Company in August 2014. Mark started his career in the Downstream Oil industry working for Shell International in Uganda where he held a number of roles, the last of which was Retail Director Shell Uganda. He then joined the Telecoms Industry to work for Bharti Airtel International in various roles, first as Sales Director Airtel Uganda, then as Sales Director Airtel Zambia, Commercial Director Airtel Zambia and Airtel Group Business Director. Mark then had a stint at consultancy in the value added services area of the Telecoms industry before he joined EABL. Mark holds a Bachelor of Statistics from Makerere University in Uganda and an MBA from the Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.

Wambui Kosgey

Mrs. Wambui Kosgey has served as Group Legal Director of East African Breweries Limited since January 2015. Prior to this appointment, she was the Regional Manager, Advisory, Investment Banking Division, East Africa at CfC Stanbic Bank Ltd (part of Standard Bank Group) and had held a number of roles at CfC Stanbic Bank among them Associate Director of the Corporate Finance Division of CfC Financial Services and Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal Services responsible for supporting the banking, financial services and insurance businesses of CfC Group. Mrs. Kosgey has also worked at I&M Bank as the Head of Legal and as Senior Associate with various leading law firms including Mohammed Muigai Mboya Advocates and Kapila Anjarwalla & Khanna Advocates. Paul Kasimu

Mr. Paul Matata Kasimu has served as Group HR Director of East African Breweries Limited since May 2011. He previously worked at Kenya Airways where he was Group HR Director, as well as at Barclays Bank in Human Resources (HR) roles, rising to become HR Business Partner for Barclays Bank, East Africa. He has been Director of the Institute of Human Resource Management, Kenya, and Director of AMREF, Kenya. He holds a degree in Management from Cambridge University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of Nairobi, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Cambridge University.

Peter Vogtlander

Mr. Peter G. Vogtlander has served as Group Supply Chain Director of East African Breweries Limited since August 2014. Prior to this appointment, he was the Brewing and Operations Director Italy, France and Swiss at Heineken. Peter has also worked for Heineken in Ghana, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia and Mexico as well as Unilever where he held various roles. Peter has extensive Supply Chain and Operations experience working in the FMCG sector. He holds a Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology.

Joyce Munene

Ms. Joyce N. Munene has served as Group Company Secretary of East African Breweries Limited since April 27, 2016. Ms. Munene is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Certified Public Secretary, a Certified Governance Auditor and a Certified Professional Mediator. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Munene worked with Equity Bank (K) Limited where she held the position of Manager, Legal Services & Assistant Company Secretary. She started her career as a Legal Officer with United Insurance Company Limited and later practiced law in the firm of Munene, Omwenga & Company Advocates. Ms. Munene holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Bachelors of Laws Degree from University of Pune and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

Paul Gallagher

Mr. Paul Gallagher has served as Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since July 2016. Mr. Paul Gallagher is currently the Global Operational Excellence Director at Diageo and is responsible for developing and executing the overall excellence in supply chain strategy in the Diageo global beer markets. His 25 years’ experience spans across end to end supply management, procurement, customer service, manufacturing, and transformation management. Prior to joining Diageo, Paul worked at Cement Roadstone Holdings where he held a number of positions including, project engineer, production manager, and assistant plant manager. He is Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Company.

John O'Keeffe

Mr. John O'Keeffe has served as Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since July 1, 2015. He is the President of Diageo Africa. He worked at Diageo for more than 20 years. During his career with the company, he has gained a wealth of experience across both emerging and developed markets namely Ireland, Jamaica, Sweden, Greece and Russia. Before his appointment as President, Diageo Africa, John was Managing Director for Guinness Nigeria Plc. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics and Marketing from the University College Cork. He is Chairman of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee of the Company.

Japheth Katto

Mr. Japheth Buleetwa Katto has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since February 12, 2014. Mr. Japheth Katto is the former CEO of the Capital Markets Authority Uganda, a position he held from inception in 1998 to 2013, and former Chairman of the East African Securities Regulatory Authorities. He has experience in both the private and public sector having held various accounting, auditing and financial services regulation roles in East Africa and the UK. Mr. Katto holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Makerere University and is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Instituted of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He was recently appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and is also Chairman of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Uganda. He is Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Company.

Nehemiah Mchechu

Mr. Nehemiah Kyando Mchechu has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since February 12, 2014. Mr. Nehemiah Mchechu is currently the Director General of the National Housing Corporation, Tanzania, and comes from a background in financial and management experience. He has previously held key positions in the banking industry, most notably as Head of Global Markets and Alternate Director, Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania and Managing Director and CEO, Commercial Bank of Africa, Tanzania. Mr. Mchechu holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Management Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is President of the University of Dar es Salaam Faculty of Commerce Alumnae Association and a member of the ACI-Financial Market Association, Tanzania Chapter. He is Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Company.

Carol Musyoka

Ms. Carol Musyoka has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since September 2015. Ms. Carol Musyoka is a Lawyer by training and a banker by profession. She currently provides consulting and knowledge partnerships for various local and international institutions specifically in the areas of leadership and corporate governance. She was previously a board member and Corporate Director of Barclays Bank Kenya. She currently holds directorships in BAT (K) Limited, Business Registration Services and the Competition Authority of Kenya. She is Member of the Corporate Governance Committee, and Member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee of the Company.

Martin Oduor-Otieno

Dr. Martin L. Oduor-Otieno has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since May 24, 2016. Martin is currently an Independent Business Advisor, and Executive Coach, based in Nairobi, Kenya since January 2016. Prior to this, he served in the professional services firm, Deloitte East Africa as Partner, Financial Services Industry from May 2013 until December 2015. Between October 2005 and December 2012 Martin worked at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group, a leading Bank in Eastern Africa, with operations in Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi initially as Deputy CEO for 18 months and then as Chief Executive Officer and member of the various Group and Subsidiary boards. Martin holds Executive MBA and Bachelor of Commerce degrees and is a Fellow of both the Kenya Institute of Bankers and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, as well as member of both the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and the Institute of Directors of Kenya. He has also been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business Leadership degree by KCA University and the National Recognition of the First Class Order of the Chief of the Burning Spear (CBS) by H.E. The President of the Republic of Kenya for his contribution to National Development. He holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from University of Nairobi, and a Masters of Business Administration degree from ESAMI Business School. He is Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and Member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee of the Company.

Allan Shonubi

Dr. Allan Shonubi has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since July 16, 2009. He is Member of the Corporate Governance Committee, and Member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee of the Company. Additionally, he is Chairman of the National Liberty of Uganda and of Uganda Breweries Limited. He is Director in several private companies, including Uganda Baati Limited, Golf Course Holdings (Garden City), AAR Health Services and Interswitch Uganda Limited. In 1986, he was enrolled as Advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He is Founding Partner of the firm of Shonubi, Musoke Advocates. He has worked with Uganda Co-operative Bank as Senior Legal Officer and with Sun International Insurance. He has attended the International Development Law Institute and was President of the East Africa Law Society and Chairman of the National Library of Uganda. He is Former President of the East Africa Law Society. He holds a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre and is Commissioner of Oaths and Notary Public.
