Charles Muchene

Mr. Charles Kahara Muchene has served as Independent Non-Executive Group Chairman of East African Breweries Limited since February 2012. He also serves on the Boards of CfC Stanbic Holdings Limited and CfC Stanbic Bank Limited, as well as on the Boards of a number of private companies. Previously, he was Non-Executive Director at East African Breweries Ltd from February 17, 2011 to February 2012. Prior to this appointment, he was Country Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Kenya, a position he served for 11 years. He was one of the Founders and Chairman of the East African Business Summit. During his professional career, he was also Member of the Disclosure Standards Committee of the Capital Markets Authority in Kenya. He is also Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, Member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and Member of the Institute of Directors. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi.

Charles Ireland

Mr. Charles Henry Ireland has served as Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of East African Breweries Limited since April 1, 2013. Prior to this appointment, he was the Managing Director of Guinness Anchor Berhad, Diageo’s premium beer joint venture business in Malaysia. Mr. Ireland joined Diageo in 1997 from Nestle, and has held a number of senior positions including General Manager of Diageo Philippines, Commercial Director Asia before being appointed to manage Guinness Anchor Berhad in 2008.

Nick Blazquez

Dr. Nick B. Blazquez has served as Non-Executive Group Deputy Chairman of East African Breweries Limited since August 2005. He is Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee, Chairman of the Nominations Committee, and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of the Company. Additionally, he is also Non-Executive Director of both Mercy Corps (the United Kingdom) and Millennium Promise (the United Kingdom). He is President of Diageo Africa and Member of the Diageo Executive Committee. He has worked with Diageo for 25 years in senior roles in Asia and Europe. He stepped down as Chairman of Private Investors in Africa. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Aberdeen, and a Ph.D. (Doctorate in Philosophy) degree from the University of Bristol.

Tracey Barnes

Ms. Tracey Barnes has served as Group Finance Director and Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since March 2012. She joined the Company as Director on February 16, 2012. She joined Diageo in 1998 in Finance, and, after a short period at head office, she became Operational Finance Director of Diageo in the Netherlands, Ireland and North America, working closely with Sales and Marketing, as well as with Supply for both spirits and beer business. Before joining Diageo, she worked as Regional Finance manager and Divisional Finance Director in Eastman Kodak, based in the United Kingdom. She trained as Auditor and Management Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. She is Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford.

Jane Karuku

Ms. Jane W. Karuku serves as Independent Non-Executive Director, Managing Director of Kenya Breweries Limited within East African Breweries Limited. She has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company since September 6, 2013. Previously she held leadership positions at Telekom Kenya and Managing Director at Cadbury East & Central Africa. She holds Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi and MBA in Marketing from the California National University. Ms. Jane Karuku was most recently the President of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). She has also held a number of senior positions in various companies including Deputy Chief Executive & Secretary General, Telkom Kenya and Managing Director, Cadbury East & Central Africa. She is a Non-Executive Director of the Barclays Bank of Kenya, a Board Member of the Global Sustainability Index and a Trustee of the United States International University, Kenya. She is Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee, and Member of the Remunerations Committee of the Company.

Steven Gannon

Mr. Steven R. (Steve) Gannon has served as Managing Director of Serengeti Breweries Limited within East African Breweries Limited since July 2012. He has commercial experience having worked in Diageo for the last 30 years during which he held several positions in the Africa business. Prior to this appointment, he was the Managing Director of the Guinness Cameroun hub, a position he held for the last three years.

Nyimpini Mabunda

Mr. Nyimpini Mabunda has served as Managing Director of Uganda Breweries Limited within East African Breweries Limited since September 2013. He has regional commercial and customer marketing experience. He joined Diageo in 2000 as Marketing Manager, White Spirits for Guinness UDV and has since has worked in a variety of roles across innovation, marketing and sales within Diageo Africa among them Regional Marketing Manager Adult Non Alcoholic drinks (ANADs) for Diageo Africa and Head of Portfolio, Whiskey and Reserve for Brand-house South Africa, a position he held until his current appointment.

Mark Ongom

Mr. Mark Ocitti Ongom has served as Managing Director of East African Breweries International within East African Breweries Limited since August 2014. Mark started his career in the Downstream Oil industry working for Shell International in Uganda where he held a number of roles, the last of which was Retail Director Shell Uganda. He then joined the Telecoms Industry to work for Bharti Airtel International in various roles, first as Sales Director Airtel Uganda, then as Sales Director Airtel Zambia, Commercial Director Airtel Zambia and Airtel Group Business Director. Mark then had a stint at consultancy in the value added services area of the Telecoms industry before he joined EABL. Mark holds a Bachelor of Statistics from Makerere University in Uganda and an MBA from the Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.

Wambui Kosgey

Mrs. Wambui Kosgey has served as Group Legal Director of East African Breweries Limited since January 2015. Prior to this appointment, she was the Regional Manager, Advisory, Investment Banking Division, East Africa at CfC Stanbic Bank Ltd (part of Standard Bank Group) and had held a number of roles at CfC Stanbic Bank among them Associate Director of the Corporate Finance Division of CfC Financial Services and Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal Services responsible for supporting the banking, financial services and insurance businesses of CfC Group.

Paul Kasimu

Mr. Paul Matata Kasimu has served as Group HR Director of East African Breweries Limited since May 2011. He previously worked at Kenya Airways where he was Group HR Director, as well as at Barclays Bank in Human Resources (HR) roles, rising to become HR Business Partner for Barclays Bank, East Africa. He has been Director of the Institute of Human Resource Management, Kenya, and Director of AMREF, Kenya.

Julie Adell-Owino

Ms. Julie Adell-Owino has served as Group Corporate Relations Director of East African Breweries Limited since June 2015. She is an experienced corporate affairs, policy and regulation specialist with over 24 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors. Julie has worked extensively in different sectors within the East Africa Community (EAC), COMESA and West Africa. A lawyer by profession, Julie has held senior executive roles in various organizations including Kenya Wildlife Service; PriceWaterhouseCoopers Africa Central covering East and West Africa; Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission; and British American Tobacco where she was the Area Head of Regulatory Affairs for East and Central Africa, responsible for 17 countries – the EAC, Horn of Africa, Indian Ocean Islands and DRC.

Alasdair Musselwhite

Mr. Alasdair Musselwhite has served as Group Route to Market (RtC) Director of East African Breweries Limited since November 2013. Between November 2010 and November 2013, he was Managing Director, EABL Uganda within the Company. He has 22 years of front line commercial experience at Diageo in Africa complemented by consumer marketing experience in the United Kingdom and Africa. Prior to this appointment, he was Sales Capability Director for Diageo Africa.

Peter Vogtlander

Mr. Peter G. Vogtlander has served as Group Supply Chain Director of East African Breweries Limited since August 2014. Prior to this appointment, he was the Brewing and Operations Director Italy, France and Swiss at Heineken. Peter has also worked for Heineken in Ghana, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia and Mexico as well as Unilever where he held various roles. Peter has extensive Supply Chain and Operations experience working in the FMCG sector.

Ruth Ngobi

Ms. Ruth Theddesia Ngobi has served as Company Secretary of East African Breweries Limited since August 2013. Since 2011, she has been Director of CFC Stanbic Holdings Limited and of CFC Stanbic Bank Limited. Since 2002, she has been Company Secretary of British American Tobacco Kenya Limited (BAT) and its subsidiaries and prior to this, she served at BAT as Legal Counsel and thereafter as an external contractor. Prior to joining BAT, she spent five years as Company Secretary and Legal Counsel at Unilever Kenya Limited. She is Member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries Society of Kenya. She obtained an LLB degree from the University of Kent and a Masters degree in Law from the University of Cambridge.

John O'Keeffe

Mr. John O'Keeffe has served as Director of East African Breweries Limited since July 1, 2015. He is the President of Diageo Africa. He worked at Diageo for more than 20 years. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics and Marketing from the University College Cork.

Martin Oduor-Otieno

Dr. Martin L. Oduor-Otieno serves as Non-Executive Director of the company effective May 24, 2016. Martin is currently an Independent Business Advisor, and Executive Coach, based in Nairobi, Kenya since January 2016. Prior to this, he served in the professional services firm, Deloitte East Africa as Partner, Financial Services Industry from May 2013 until December 2015. Between October 2005 and December 2012 Martin worked at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group, a leading Bank in Eastern Africa, with operations in Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi initially as Deputy CEO for 18 months and then as Chief Executive Officer and member of the various Group and Subsidiary boards. Martin holds Executive MBA and Bachelor of Commerce degrees and is a Fellow of both the Kenya Institute of Bankers and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, as well as member of both the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and the Institute of Directors of Kenya. He has also been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business Leadership degree by KCA University and the National Recognition of the First Class Order of the Chief of the Burning Spear (CBS) by H.E. The President of the Republic of Kenya for his contribution to National Development.

Susan Githuku

Ms. Susan Githuku has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since February 16, 2012. She is also Member of the Remunerations Committee of the Company. She is Founder and CEO of Human Performance Dynamics (HPD) Africa, a boutique Organizational Development & Human Resources consulting firm. Prior to establishing HPD Africa, she served as Coca-Cola Africa Group Human Resources (HR) Director in charge of all the countries in Africa. She is also Founder of Footprints Press Limited, a publishing house. She holds a Masters degree in Development Economics from the Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland (University of Strathclyde) and Bachelors degrees in Economics and Psychology from the St. Lawrence University, New York, the United States.

Japheth Katto

Mr. Japheth Buleetwa Katto has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since February 12, 2014. Mr. Japheth Katto is the former CEO of the Capital Markets Authority Uganda, a position he held from inception in 1998 to 2013, and former Chairman of the East African Securities Regulatory Authorities. He has experience in both the private and public sector having held various accounting, auditing and financial services regulation roles in East Africa and the UK. Mr. Katto holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Makerere University and is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Instituted of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He was recently appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and is also Chairman of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Uganda. He is Member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Company.

Nehemiah Mchechu

Mr. Nehemiah Kyando Mchechu has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since February 12, 2014. Mr. Nehemiah Mchechu is currently the Director General of the National Housing Corporation, Tanzania, and comes from a background in financial and management experience. He has previously held key positions in the banking industry, most notably as Head of Global Markets and Alternate Director, Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania and Managing Director and CEO, Commercial Bank of Africa, Tanzania. Mr. Mchechu holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Management Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is President of the University of Dar es Salaam Faculty of Commerce Alumnae Association and a member of the ACI-Financial Market Association, Tanzania Chapter. He is Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Company.

Allan Shonubi

Dr. Allan Shonubi has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Limited since July 16, 2009. He is also Member of the Corporate Governance Committee, Member of the Nominations Committees, and Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Company. Additionally, he is Chairman of the National Liberty of Uganda and of Uganda Breweries Limited. He is Director in several private companies, including Uganda Baati Limited, Golf Course Holdings (Garden City), AAR Health Services and Interswitch Uganda Limited. In 1986, he was enrolled as Advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He is Founding Partner of the firm of Shonubi, Musoke Advocates. He has worked with Uganda Co-operative Bank as Senior Legal Officer and with Sun International Insurance. He has attended the International Development Law Institute and was President of the East Africa Law Society and Chairman of the National Library of Uganda. He is Former President of the East Africa Law Society. He holds a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre and is Commissioner of Oaths and Notary Public.
