India-based IT services firm Infosys is hiring 10,000 workers and opening four technology centers in the United States. The new hires will work in fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud, and big data, and work for clients in sectors like financial services, manufacturing, and healthcare. The first center will open this summer in Indiana, the home state of U.S. Vice President Mike Pence. The move comes at a time when Infosys and some of its Indian peers, such as Tata and Wipro, have become political targets in the United States. They've been accused of displacing U.S. workers' jobs by flying in foreigners on temporary visas to service their clients in the country. Infosys has already hired 2,000 people in the United States since 2014. But, even after adding the 10,000 new positions, it's only a small part of the company's workforce of more than 200,000 globally. Also, analysts say more U.S. hirings means higher costs. And just last month, Infosys said it'll struggle to reach its ambitious $20 billion revenue target by 2020.
