Boeing launched a new jet at the Paris Air Show Monday. It's the latest version of its best selling 737 plane. The narrow body 737 MAX 10 seats up to 230 people. Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg: SOUNDBITE: DENNIS MUILENBURG, PRESIDENT AND CEO, BOEING, (ENGLISH) SAYING: "You look at the 737 family, it's been a workhorse for decades. The MAX family is bringing new value to our customers, as you'll see in our market outlook update, we see over the next 20 years, the world needs 41,000 new commercial airplanes." But it debuts as jetmakers brace for a slowdown in demand after years of booming orders. It's set to clash with Airbus' competing A321neo, which accommodates up to ten more passengers Boeing said it has nabbed more than 240 orders and commitments from at least 10 customers for the MAX 10. Airbus hit back by announcing an order for 100 of its A320neo planes, which are smaller than the A321 The 737 is the fourth generation of a jetliner that debuted five decades ago. But Boeing is playing catch up with its MAX 10 because Airbus has had a one-year head start with its jet. Boeing shares rising at the market takeoff Monday to a record high, adding to their lofty 28 percent gain this year.
