Monsanto vows to fight. This after California said it'll add glyphosate to its list of chemicals known to cause cancer. Glyphosate is an herbicide that's an active ingredient in Monsanto's popular weed killer, Roundup. The company called the decision "unwarranted on the basis of science and the law". It's the latest legal setback for the seeds giant. Just last week, Arkansas' plant board voted to ban another weed killer designed for use with Monsanto's next generation of biotech crops, Dicamba. And two years ago, the World Health Organization said gyphosate was "probably carcinogenic". Users of glyphosate include golf courses, orchards, and farms. Once listed, Monsanto will have one year to re-label products or remove them from stores. California's move would require the company to add glyphosate warning labels to its packaging. Monsanto shares fell at the market open Tuesday, chipping away at their 12 percent gain this year.
