Spain's ACS to study buying ASPI, hopes to create European highway group

MADRID, April 6 (Reuters) - Spanish infrastructure group ACS will seek to create a pan-European group of road operators with its Italian partner Atlantia, which is selling its ASPI unit, ACS chairman Florentino Perez told investors on Tuesday.

“We hope to create a large group of highway concessionaries, and would be delighted to do so with our Italian partners - and if not, will seek alternatives,” Perez said.

“We have a partner of many years in Abertis, and as they also have the sale of ASPI (Autostrade per l’Italia) ongoing, we will consider the options with enthusiasm,” he added. (Reporting by Clara-Laeila Laudette, editing by Andrei Khalip)
