Anthem profit falls 21.2% as costs normalize on rebound in non-COVID procedures

July 21 (Reuters) - Anthem Inc on Wednesday posted a 21.2% fall in second-quarter profit, as normalized demand for non-COVID healthcare services delayed due to the pandemic pushed up the U.S. health insurer’s medical costs.

Net income fell to $1.79 billion, or $7.25 per share, in the quarter ended June 30 from $2.28 billion, or $8.91 per share, a year earlier.
