BASF lifts profit guidance again on higher chemicals prices

FRANKFURT, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Germany’s BASF increased its 2021 earnings guidance for the third time as it continues to mark up prices for basic chemicals used by large industrial customers.

In a statement on Wednesday, the world’s largest chemicals maker by sales said it now expected 2021 earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), adjusted for one-off items, to come in at between 7.5 billion and 8 billion euros ($8.7-$9.3 billion), where it had previously predicted 7.0 billion to 7.5 billion euros.
