Brazil congressional committee suspends BNDES rates session

Aug 22 (Reuters) - A Brazilian congressional committee on Tuesday suspended a session that is examining a government proposal to set market-based interest rates for state lender BNDES, with opposition lawmakers saying more details were needed.

But lawmakers who support the measure said they were still working to put the measure to a vote within hours. The proposal is one of President Michel Temer's top priorities to fix the country's long-term public finances and pave the way for lower interest rates as it reduces the scope for discretionary subsidies through BNDES lending.
