Equifax to brief U.S. congressional aides on hacking incident

WASHINGTON, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Congressional aides will get a briefing on Friday from Equifax Inc after the company said personal details of as many as 143 million U.S. consumers were accessed by hackers between mid-May and July, in what could be one of the largest-ever data breaches in the United States.

Staff will receive a briefing on the incident from Equifax officials, said Jeff Emerson, a spokesman for the U.S. House Financial Services Committee. Equifax shares were down 13.8 percent in heavy trading early on Friday. (Reporting by David Shepardson; Editing by Meredith Mazzilli)
