German court turns to European Court for help on Facebook data case

DUESSELDORF, March 24 (Reuters) - A German court hearing an appeal by Facebook against data curbs imposed by the country’s antitrust watchdog said on Wednesday that it would seek guidance from the European Court of Justice on the case.

The Duesseldorf Higher Regional Court said it could only decide on the case after the ECJ issues an opinion on whether a national competition authority had the power to determine whether the European Union’s data protection rulebook had been violated.
