Kraft Heinz first-quarter sales beat estimates

April 29 (Reuters) - Kraft Heinz Co beat estimates of first-quarter sales on Thursday as a year-long surge in demand for salty snacks and packaged meals held up even as the U.S. economy began to reopen with the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.

Net sales rose to $6.39 billion in the three months ended March 27, from $6.16 billion a year earlier. Analysts were expecting sales of $6.24 billion, according to IBES Refinitiv. (Reporting by Mehr Bedi in Bengaluru, Editing by Sherry Jacob-Phillips)
