Sept 1 (Reuters) - The fire at global chemical company Arkema's hurricane-flooded plant in Crosby, Texas, has largely burned itself out and there currently are no other blazes, although more are likely in the coming days, company executives said on Friday.
"We understand that the fire has substantially burned itself out. Emergency response officials are remotely monitoring to understand where we are, and as of this moment we do not have any additional fires at the plant," Richard Rennard, head of an Arkema business unit, said on a call with journalists.
Company executives say additional chemicals stored in eight other trailers at the plant are likely to catch fire in the coming days. The chemicals have to be cooled to keep from burning, but the plant lost power during the flood. (Reporting by Ian Simpson; Writing by Makini Brice)
